AI Tools Architect / Tech Lead
Hands-on AI coding workflows, prompt and agent design, tool use, evaluation, code review, testing, CI automation, documentation, and safety through human judgment.

I connect audited operations, severe-incident ownership, modern software, infrastructure UX, AI tooling, and hands-on Kubernetes work.
One campaign, four role-specific evidence lanes. Each lane names what is direct and keeps adjacent experience honest.
Hands-on AI coding workflows, prompt and agent design, tool use, evaluation, code review, testing, CI automation, documentation, and safety through human judgment.
Deep incident, escalation, virtualization, compute, storage, networking, automation, customer guidance, and root-cause experience across on-premises, hosted, and cloud environments.
Senior React and TypeScript product work, design systems, accessibility, dashboards, and simplifying dense infrastructure and operational workflows for real users.
Hands-on Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, networking, monitoring, testing, customer discovery, technical specifications, delivery, and production escalation work.
I have spent 15+ years making complicated systems reliable, supportable, and understandable. I led a Fort Collins datacenter and NOC, owned annual SOC audit readiness and the hardest production escalations, and now build AI-enabled products, cloud platforms, and infrastructure software for clients. The common thread is simple: I stay responsible for the whole system and for the people who have to operate it.
Annual SOC 1 and SOC 2 technical readiness under SSAE 18: access, failover, backup, recovery, monitoring, procedures, remediation, and direct auditor work.
Primary on-call ownership, severe-incident diagnosis, customer communication, recovery, root cause, post-incident work, capacity planning, and complex migrations.
Datacenter, virtualization, compute, storage, networking, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
React, TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, AI agents, tool orchestration, evaluation, CI/CD, design systems, accessibility, and production observability.
Career record
Led infrastructure architecture and reliability for a 30,000-square-foot commercial datacenter in Fort Collins across compute, storage, virtualization, networking, colocation, cloud, and managed services. Led the NOC and served as primary on-call engineer for escalations, directing diagnosis, customer communication, recovery, post-incident work, capacity planning, and complex migrations. Owned technical readiness and remediation for annual SOC 1 and SOC 2 audits under SSAE 18, working directly with auditors and proving access, failover, backup, recovery, monitoring, and operating controls. Passed every year. Modernized Nagios into Zabbix, stabilized an unhealthy AWS database estate costing about $10K/month, and introduced Docker, Swarm/Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD practices.
Infrastructure focal for shared enterprise environments serving millions of users, including Best Buy, Amtrak, and USPS work, with responsibility across incidents, escalations, virtualization, hosted desktops, backups, audit controls, and production change. Automated recurring compliance, backup, and operational checks and translated problems between application teams, infrastructure specialists, service managers, and customers.
Moved to Wray after fiber reached the community and spent three years helping rural businesses and residents adopt modern networks, computers, cloud tools, reliable backups, and practical technical support. Served as the complete IT function for Excell Services and roughly 30 employees: rebuilt servers, negotiated and connected fiber that saved thousands, established multi-site recovery, improved wireless links, and migrated operations without disrupting the business.
Runs a Top Rated / top-10% independent engineering practice through Upwork, referrals, and long-term clients, usually as the only engineer or technical lead from discovery through launch, support, and recovery. Builds AI-assisted products and workflows with retrieval, embeddings, structured outputs, classification, agents, tool orchestration, evaluation harnesses, and explicit human review. Designs and operates React and TypeScript products, Python and Rust services, PostgreSQL and Redis systems, cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD, security controls, and production observability.
Built the client-facing operating layer for a small technical shop, joining scheduling, forms, accounts, support, infrastructure, and delivery in one maintained system.
Builds retrieval, structured-output, classification, natural-language, coding-agent, and tool-orchestration workflows with evaluation harnesses, tests, observability, and explicit human review.
Designs dashboards, form systems, account workflows, support surfaces, and technical interfaces that expose dense system state without making operators fight the product.
Built financial, technical, security, integration, and launch services for small companies and creative projects, including work with DreamWorks Animation creative leadership and independent artists.
Software, infrastructure, support, and technical leadership with production responsibility.
Commercial Fort Collins datacenter under direct systems and architecture leadership.
Annual SOC 1 and SOC 2 audit readiness, evidence, remediation, backup, and recovery ownership.
Top Rated Upwork practice backed by referrals and long-term technical client relationships.
